Environment Week Celebration at AGC

 Amritsar Group of Colleges (AGC) proudly presents a week-long celebration of Environment Week from June 2nd to June 8th, dedicated to combating the grave issue of plastic pollution. Under the inspiring theme of "Beat Plastic Pollution," AGC is organizing a series of engaging activities to raise awareness and encourage sustainable practices among students, faculty, and the wider community.  Today, a seminar was organized to highlight the significance of collaborative efforts by the college and Punjab Pollution Control Board to combat plastic pollution and work towards a cleaner and greener future.  Er. Harpal Singh from the Punjab Pollution Control Board was the esteemed Chief Guest who passionately urged students to refrain from using plastic and actively contribute towards overcoming the challenges posed by plastic pollution.   In promoting awareness among students and the society at large, World Environment Week under the theme “ Beat Plastic Pollution ” from 2 nd -8 th June, 2023 is being celebrated by Amritsar Group of Colleges, Amritsar. Under this Department of Civil Engineering arranged the Seminar of Er. Harpal Singh (Superintendent Engineer, Punjab Pollution Control Board) on 2 nd June 2023. Dr. V.K Banga, Principal, AGC , said the objective of celebrating Environment Week was to make younger generation more sensitive towards environmental protection.   He also spotlighted the AGC special effort in further strengthening ONE STUDENT-ONE TREE movement extending it beyond the boundaries of the Institution reaching the village Rakh Jhita for Tree Plantation, village cleanliness and awareness camp to the Rakh Jhita inhabitants with the support of S. Another Garden-Based Learning Program at AGC Agro Farm: A Resounding Success!

  Amritsar Group of Colleges feels happy   to share the wonderful experience of our recent Garden-Based Learning Program for school students. It was an event filled with excitement, discovery, and hands-on learning. Mrs. Suhinder Kaur, the esteemed wife of the Cabinet Minister of Power and Supply was the Chief Guest of the Programme. The students were shown how the farm utilized organic waste as fertilizer, how the livestock provided manure for compost, and how the compost was used to fertilize the crops. This helped the students understand the importance of utilizing resources in a sustainable manner. Next, the students were taken on a tour of the farm and shown the different types of crops that were being grown. The tour was led by an experienced staff who explained the various techniques used to cultivate the crops and the challenges faced by farmers in a changing climate. After the tour, the students were divided into groups and given the opportunity to participate in hands-on
