Another Garden-Based Learning Program at AGC Agro Farm: A Resounding Success!
Amritsar Group of Colleges feels happy to share the wonderful experience of our recent Garden-Based Learning Program for school students. It was an event filled with excitement, discovery, and hands-on learning. Mrs. Suhinder Kaur, the esteemed wife of the Cabinet Minister of Power and Supply was the Chief Guest of the Programme.
The students were shown how the farm
utilized organic waste as fertilizer, how the livestock provided manure for
compost, and how the compost was used to fertilize the crops. This helped the
students understand the importance of utilizing resources in a sustainable
manner.
Next, the students were taken on a tour
of the farm and shown the different types of crops that were being grown. The
tour was led by an experienced staff who explained the various techniques used
to cultivate the crops and the challenges faced by farmers in a changing
climate. After the tour, the students were divided into groups and given the
opportunity to participate in hands-on activities.
Throughout the program, the students
were encouraged to ask questions and share their thoughts and ideas. At the end
of the day, certificates were given to the participants. The support and
encouragement from AGC's Director Finance, Madam Ragini Sharma demonstrates the
institution's commitment to providing students with valuable educational
experiences outside the traditional classroom setting. By recognizing the
benefits of agricultural visits, she is helping the students connect their
academic learning with real-world applications.
The program, in itself, was a success in
providing students with a holistic and immersive learning experience. By
exploring nature and understanding the importance of sustainable agriculture,
the students were empowered to make a positive impact on food security and
environmental sustainability in the future.
