Environment Week Celebration at AGC

 Amritsar Group of Colleges (AGC) proudly presents a week-long celebration of Environment Week from June 2nd to June 8th, dedicated to combating the grave issue of plastic pollution. Under the inspiring theme of "Beat Plastic Pollution," AGC is organizing a series of engaging activities to raise awareness and encourage sustainable practices among students, faculty, and the wider community.

 Today, a seminar was organized to highlight the significance of collaborative efforts by the college and Punjab Pollution Control Board to combat plastic pollution and work towards a cleaner and greener future.

 Er. Harpal Singh from the Punjab Pollution Control Board was the esteemed Chief Guest who passionately urged students to refrain from using plastic and actively contribute towards overcoming the challenges posed by plastic pollution. Accompanying him was Er. Amritpal Singh, who served as the Guest of Honour. Their expertise and guidance greatly enriched our discussions and initiatives throughout Environment Week.

 Among the highlights of the week was an impressive showcase by our talented Civil Engineering students. They demonstrated their incredible creative skills by transforming plastic waste into functional plastic tiles. This showcase not only displayed their ingenuity but also underscored the potential for upcycling plastic waste and promoting sustainable solutions in the construction industry. To make this initiative a success, the students of the Hotel Management Department under the guidance of Mr. Purshottam Kainth, Head- Department of Hotel Management played a crucial role by collecting plastic waste from the campus, demonstrating a remarkable collaboration among various departments within AGC.

 Chairman AGC, Sh. Amit Sharma and Director Finance, Madam Ragini Sharma, appreciated the initiative and emphasized AGC's commitment to addressing the challenges of our dynamic global environment through innovation, excellence, and social responsibility.

 Managing Director Dr. Rajneesh Arora highlighted the crucial role educational institutions play in nurturing responsible citizens and fostering sustainable practices. Principal Dr. V. K. Banga, commended the students and faculty involved in organizing the events, emphasizing the importance of environmental education in shaping a better future. Dr. Upain Bhatia, Dean Academics and Head of the Civil Engineering Department, expressed immense pride in the innovative projects undertaken by the students and recognized their valuable contribution to sustainable development.

Ms. Dipti Malhotra, Dean of UG Courses extended a sincere vote of thanks to all the participants, guests, and volunteers who made Environment Week a resounding success.
