Short Term Training Progamme on “Employment Skills in the Industry” @ AGC
The Department of Management Studies at Amritsar Group of Colleges (AGC), Amritsar, in collaboration with the Entrepreneurship Development and Industrial Coordination Department (EDIC) of NITTTR, Chandigarh, conducted a Five-day Short Term Training Programme (STTP) on ‘Employment Skills in the Industry’ from August 5 to 9, 2024. Dr. S.K. Dhameja from NITTTR, Chandigarh, served as the primary coordinator. The event featured resource persons from various esteemed institutes and industries, including NITTTR Chandigarh, Jio Mumbai, Matins Pharma, Communication Coach and Corporate Trainer Panchkula, Diversity Arc Business Consulting Zirakpur, and Swaraj Mazda Limited (SML-ISUZU).
The
programme attracted around 200 faculty members from prestigious institutes
nationwide. Its primary objective was to equip faculty with the skills
necessary to prepare Technical and Management graduates for employment in the
industry. The STTP aimed to enhance the faculty's understanding of
employability skills required in the modern job market, covering topics like
current industry trends, skills, industry expectations, aligning with industry
standards, creating relevant learning outcomes, networking opportunities, and
industry-relevant skills.
Dr.
Gaurav Tejpal, Principal of AGC, praised the organizers, participants, and
resource persons for their diligent efforts. He highlighted the importance of
the interactive sessions in addressing industry demands and emphasized their
potential to improve student placement outcomes by keeping faculty updated with
the latest industry trends.
Chairman
Sh. Amit Sharma commended the commitment of both organizers and participants to
the training program, stressing the significance of proactive involvement in
acquiring essential employability skills.
Dr.
Rajneesh Arora, Managing Director, underscored the role of such training
programs in personal and professional development, ensuring faculty alignment
with industry standards, which greatly benefits student placement outcomes.
