How Can I Become Mechanical Engineer after Class 12?

Engineering is the use of scientific principles to design and build machines, structures, and other items, including bridges, tunnels, roads, vehicles, and buildings. Engineering is a profession in which people apply scientific theory to develop, design, and analyze solutions. Generally, engineering consists of major basic branches which all have numerous subdisciplines. The major branches of engineering are civil, chemical, software, mechanical, electrical, and industrial.

Out of this branches, Mechanical engineering is one of the oldest branches of engineering that deals with machines. It is the study of objects in motion. It is the branch of engineering that combines physics and mathematical principles with material science to design and manufacture mechanised products. This field is very broad and mechanical engineering works to solve problems and create solutions in almost all industries like health care, automobile, and aerospace. It basically works to create machines that ease work for humankind. A career in mechanical engineering can be very diverse and offer multiple career paths. So, the question arises how can I  become mechanical engineer after completing my class 12?

To become Mechanical Engineer It is mandatory to complete a four-year course in Bachelor in Technology (B. Tech) in mechanical engineering. If I  can not do a four-year degree in engineering, the other alternative that I can opt is to  pursue a three-year diploma course in mechanical engineering from polytechnic colleges.

B.Tech  Mechanical Engineering is a 4 year undergraduate engineering degree course. This course prepares the students to become Mechanical Engineers. The objective of this course is to prepare students to apply the principles of mechanical engineering for designing, manufacturing, and maintenance of mechanical systems.

Candidates wanting to pursue B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering must have completed 10+2 from a recognized board with at least 60% in 10+2 preferably from the science stream. Admission to B.Tech Mechanical Engineering is done via entrance test-based and also by merit-based. B.Tech entrance exams like JEE Main, WBJEE, UPSEE etc. followed by a counselling process to allocate seats finally. Some institutes also conduct their own entrance exams like SRMJEEE, BITSAT etc. followed by counselling rounds for the purpose of offering admission into the B.Tech mechanical engineering programme.

So,  by Completing my graduation in B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering I can Become Mechanical Engineer. The scope of Mechanical Engineers are so wide  that they have been offered jobs in various Multinational Corporations such as – Hindustan Petroleum Corporation limited ( HPCL), Larsen& Turbo( L&T), Oil and Natural Gas Corporation limited ( ONGCC), Godrej Group, National Aluminium Company Ltd.( NALCO), National Thermal Power Corporation limited ( NTPX), Tata Group, Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), Thermax and many more.

The average starting salary of a mechanical engineer can vary anywhere between Rs. 4 lakh to Rs. 20 lakh per annum. However, if  I am graduating from a reputed college such as the IITs, better salary packages are rolled out. It is important to note that the grades of the students also matter equally during the placement process.

Another Alternative that will also considered to become mechanical engineer is the three year diploma in mechanical engineering. The diploma in mechanical engineering is a three-year degree program that deals with applications of Physics, manufacturing, analysing, designing, dealing, and applying all the basic principles of machines. The course of mechanical engineering contains a depth that allows a candidate to choose various career options after the completion of the course. The diploma in mechanical engineering is pursued by the candidates after class 10.  Candidates who want to pursue a diploma in mechanical engineering will have to secure at least 50% marks in class 10. A relaxation of 5% is given to the candidates belonging to the reserved categories. By, Completing this three year diploma I can become Mechanical Engineer in various mechanical corporation such as Audi, BMW , Mercedes etc.

These are the two ways by which I can Become a Mechanical Engineer.
