Organic Market by AGC for city dwellers

 AGC has taken the initiative of creating awareness about the harmful products promoting the use of organic products in the society by entering into the next stage of Organic Market at Art Gallery, Amritsar. The market was organized at the venture first time for city dwellers. Farmers and FPOs of the region participated in the event to sell their products. Mrs. Suhinder Kaur (Wife of Cabinet Minister S. Harbhajan Singh, ETO) graced the occasion with her kind presence.

Madam Ragini Sharma- Director Finance, AGC said,” The main objective of the market is to provide healthy products to our people and also educate people about the benefits of organic food and we hope that this will mark the start of a healthy future.”
Advocate Amit Sharma (Chairman, AGC) said," This is an initiative for the farmers who promote the organic way of farming. We, through this organic market, aim at impeding the usage of chemical fertilizers and pesticides that foster the diverse health issues nowadays."
Dr. V.K. Banga, Principal AGC said,” Through the Organic Market, the organic farmers will be given an added advantage of the live demonstration on millet cooking, millet diet, growing vegetables; workshops, fruit sapling, etc. This will also help the city dwellers to get complete information for organizing their kitchen garden by themselves.” Ms. Dipti Malhotra, Dean UG Courses said that this platform is a meeting point for sensible consumers and progressive farmers. The sustainability of the effort is dependent on the people of the city participating in this effort. Dr. Gurbir Singh, Head- Department of Agriculture and the faculty was appreciated for the well-management of the market. Deans, Heads and Faculty of other departments visited the market.
Along with the organic market, a technique- learning counter was also established which is the best way to skip the soil, sub in a different material to support the roots of the plant, and grow crops directly in nutrient-rich water.
